Hurricane Sandy: Part 1

So, here are a few pictures of the end of my street. My house is the next one up, so odds are my front and back lawn will be underwater. This isn't as bad as it will be yet, too. Tonight, at the fourth high tide, you will see how high it will get. WISH ME LUCK!

Before the Storm

As I am sure most of you know, there is a hurricane on its way to New York and New Jersey. People are freaking out, including all of my neighbors. The Long Island Railroad has cancelled service in preparation for the storm, which means NO SCHOOL tomorrow or, hopefully, the next day.

Last year, we had to face Hurricane Irene and that was pretty scary. If this is supposed to be worse than I will cry. Be prepared for some pictures and updates about how much I'll be freaking out.

Cheers,

Jack

PS if you are in the area, stay safe!

Apple Cake: Take 1

About these photos: Shirt J. Crew (last year), Specs Tom Ford

Everyone, say hello to my best friend, Ally! Find her on Instagram @Ally_Stacy. I have probably tagged her in a bunch of different photos. Both of us love to cook, and Wednesday she asked me to make Tate's Apple Cake on Friday night. Obviously, I couldn't pass it up.

Honestly, it was so easy to make. Kathleen's directions are really really simple. Unfortunately, her oven malfunctioned and broiled it.... awkward. Both her parents still liked it, but it sucked. Don't kid yourselves. We went to Tate's Bakeshop in Southampton to actually try it today. Let me tell you it was better than anything I have ever tasted. It says to cook it for an hour and forty five minutes. I am sure it is the right time, but make sure your oven bakes. Have a good weekend, and don't forget to batten down the hatches for Sandy! I'll post pictures if it gets wild out here.

Cheers,

Jack

PS here is the link to Tate's recipe.

Home Is Where The Beach Is

About these photos: Vest: J. Crew (last year), Flannel: J. Crew, Cords: Vineyard Vines (here), Watch: Tissot, Sunglasses: Ray Bans (here), Shoes: H&M (last year)

So, this is my new safe haven. It's this awesome, secret, little spot in North Sea right off of Rt. 27. In the morning all the locals are there with their families fishing or unloading their boats. I came here with my sister and my best friend to take pictures. My sister tried to pull a fast one and steal the car, as you can see. She is a year away from driving, so she is getting pretty antsy.

Fun fact--I found this chair on the side of the road a few weeks ago and picked it up. I had a feeling it would come in handy.

Have a great week everybody!

Cheers,

Jack

A Lil' R&R

About these photos: Hat: my dad's, Sweater: J. Crew (last year), Denim: Gap, Boots: UGG (here), Specs: Tom Ford (here)

Hey everybody! My sincerest apologies for not posting in such a long time. I took these photos about a week ago yesterday and just haven't gotten around to uploading them and posting them... don't feel too neglected. The fair isle sweater I am wearing is literally my favorite sweater I have ever owned. It is lambswool, so it is warm and perfect to wear without a jacket in the fall and with a peacoat or toggle coat in the winter. I have a minor obsession with hats. I only own a few for a few reasons: 1. They're outrageously expensive and 2. I have an absolutely enormous head so it is hard to find flattering ones. This used to be my dad's, but I "borrowed" it a few years ago and just haven't gotten around to returning it yet.

I just realized how long my hair is in this picture. I got a haircut a week ago, so it is a little shocking to see the bush on the back of my head. Maybe now my hats will fit better.

Lastly, Moose is featured in this post. He loves the beach, so its natural that he came with me to take pictures. Stay tuned for a post about Champ.

Cheers,

Jack

San Gennaro

About these photos: Jacket: Southampton Golf Club, Denim: Gap (old), Shirt: J. Crew (old), Bag: Marc Jacobs (old)

This is a roundup of whatever photos I could get from the San Genarro feast. I went on Sunday afternoon, so it had sort of died down because of the time and rain, but Saturday was gorgeous and packed. The gelato vendor told me that the line was down the block and twenty five minutes long. This is the second year it's taken place, and it is one of the greatest events the Hamptons has during the fall. It is on Good Ground Road in Hampton Bays on Columbus Day Weekend, so if you're out here looking for something to do, stop by. Especially if you want Italian food--Scotto's Pork Store is THE best and their food is well worth the wait on line. The other vendors are usually pretty fun, too. The last photo is of the Hampton Art Space booth. One of my favorite places in Hampton Bays, the Art Space is a paint-you-own-pottery place. I go there with some of my good friends from years ago when I want to catch up. Make sure you stop by and tell them Jack sent you.

Cheers,

Jack

PS my apologies for the tardiness, I've been swamped

So, as promised, here is the post all about Claire. It's just a quick one, for now. We are writing this post together in front of a fire as you can tell from my last instagram.
Hold tight because tomorrow we've got a post all about the San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons.

Falling for Fall

About these photos: Sunglasses: Ray Bans, Button up: J. Crew (here), Belt: Gap (old), Shorts: J. Crew Factory, Desert Boots: Bass (old)

In advance, happy Columbus Day, everybody! I am sure we all look ridiculous picking pumpkins in October in short sleeves and shorts, but it was honestly summer weather in the Hamptons this weekend.  These are my second cousins, who actually have a hysterical story behind them. Their mom and my mom went to high school together and were best friends. After the graduated, my mom introduced her to my mom's cousin, who married her and had these three cherubs. The girl in the white v-neck is my sister, Claire. She is two years younger than I am, but we look exactly the same.

We spent Saturday eating roasted corn, picking pumpkins, and running through the corn maze wreaking havoc--basically, being teenagers. If anyone is in the Hamptons during the fall, be sure to take a trip to Bridgehampton with the kids or without and visit The Maze. The Maze and Pumpkintown are the "go-to spots" during the fall out here.

Cheers,

Jack

PS stay tuned for a post all about my sister tonight

Moving On Up

About this photo: Specs: Tom Ford (here), French Cuff Shirt: Brooks Brothers (here), Neck Tie: Hermes (old/similar ones), Suit: Brooks Brothers (here)

Happy Hump Day! This week has been incredibly hectic so far. I am already exhausted, but I guess I can push through.

I got the proofs of my senior portraits today, and my original opinion of them was that they were terrible. I sort of changed my mind. They aren't so bad, I guess. For all those readers who think I am insanely overdressed for school, I go to a private school where I need to wear a suit every day. Sounds great, right? It is, don't worry.

If you click on the link to my suit, you'll see it's pretty pricey. Today, everybody wants a bang for his buck. I think for a suit you have to go big or go home, because in this case you want quality. It should be a staple in your closet, and it should last you for at least ten years, if you invest in a good one. I highly recommend this one. Brooks Brothers is a great, classic, reliable brand, and they're wonderful to work with, in terms of tailoring.

Well, I hope everyone has a great rest of their week. I have a special post coming up soon, so keep in touch!

Cheers,

Jack

Happy Monday, everybody! Today is my least favorite day of the week. I am running around going to doctors offices for my sinus infection today, but here is a quick post. These little guys came to say hello on the last few shots. It's almost time to say goodbye to them for the colder months.

Cheers,

Jack

PS this park is a great place to read the paper and drink your morning cup of coffee.
